The mobility as a service market will generate a turnover of more than 15.45 billion euros per year for vehicle sellers and repairers in Spain. More than 90% of that turnover will come from the monetisation of the data generated by connected cars, according to the report “The Economic Scope of Mobility”, prepared by the Spanish Association for Motor Trade and Repair (Asociación Española de Vendedores y Reparadores de Vehículos, GANVAM) in collaboration with international consultants NTT DATA.
Specifically, the report, which estimates that by 2030 about 34% of vehicles will be registered in the form of Mobility as a Service (MaaS), identifies five business opportunities for the vehicle distribution sector to rise to the level of mobility as a service: 1) vehicle subscription (carsharing, shared mobility) 2) sale of products and services related to electric mobility (accessories and recharging services) 3) installation and maintenance of software and hardware, knowing that more than 82% of drivers are inclined to connect their vehicle 4) the «packaging» and sale of data (personalised mobility services, predictive maintenance, etc.) 5) circular economy: reuse of batteries and reconditioning of vehicles.
